Welcome! My name is Rachel Shrader, a graphite and charcoal artist, and Forgotten Art is my studio. The art which you will find here is dedicated to those faces and things which have been forgotten. Many of the faces here have names no one recognizes, and recall a time no one remembers. All of them portray truths that the modern world has discarded.                                                        My art is more about the old than the new. It is more about preservation than innovation. It is about remembering more than predicting. I endeavor to preserve the ideas of tradition and heritage, things so ignored in this time and yet so vitally important to a person's identity. I also try to depict those things which bring us together: I believe in the power of art and sport as effective forms of diplomacy, often more powerful than the wisest politics. I believe that a symphony can be a common language, and a soccer match can bring understanding between contrasting peoples.

Yet, above all, and indeed as the foundation for everything I have just stated, my art is about life, das Leben, la vida, la vita, la vie. God-given life from conception till natural death. Life because all of the above statements are pointless without it. In a world where life is discarded, where service to the true God has been replaced by service to the god of self, and where the most innocent are the most vulnerable, life is the driving force behind what I do. If the beauty that God has given to every people of every language and land in this world is to survive, we must believe in life.
